Zoe Hardin Named GAC Defensive Player of the Week -
RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - The Great American Conference announced the league's Players of the Week for the second week of the volleyball season. Arkansas Tech's Hunter Eshnaur and Amanda Milnick garnered the Offensive and Setter awards while Harding's Zoe Harding earned the Defensive honor.

Harding University students study in Scotland
Students at Harding University depart May 21 for a six-week student teaching program in Scotland. As part of the curriculum, students will be immersed in Scottish culture. They will spend time tutoring, observing, teaching and assisting in Scottish schools as well as taking educational trips throughout the United Kingdom. Group trips include outings to Edinburgh, Glasgow, the Scottish Highlands, St. Andrews and London. Students have three courses available to them during the six-week program. The coursework and on-site experiences in classrooms promotes citizenship within a global perspective for students in the teacher education program at the University.

Harding University students complete Summer Undergraduate Research in Florence
Students at Harding University depart May 22 for the Summer Undergraduate Research in Florence program. Students will spend four weeks in Italy studying under Dr. Dennis Matlock, associate professor of biochemistry at Harding, and internationally known lecturer and researcher Dr. Chiara Azzari. During the program, students will conduct lab work in the University of Florence hospital and lab, earning six biochemistry credits.

Harding University students study abroad with Bison Athletes in Training
Students at Harding University depart May 25 for a four-week Bison Athletes in Training study-abroad program. Students will travel to locations in Italy, Greece and Germany and will take at least six credit hours of classes during the program. Bison Athletes in Training was created for student athletes who could not take advantage of other University study-abroad programs during the school year due to training and practice schedules. Class and travel schedules allow time for workouts at a local gym and field.

Harding University students spend semester in Italy
Students at Harding University departed May 10 for a three-month semester studying at the University's campus in Florence, Italy. As part of the HUF curriculum, students spend the semester immersed in Italian culture. They will have the opportunity to visit locations such as Pisa, Rome, Pompeii, Sicily and other historically significant areas. The group lives together in a 16th-century villa much like a typical Italian family, cultivating new relationships with fellow students. Students in the program have a full course load available to them taught by visiting Harding professors. The professors also travel with the students. The classes encourage exploration and interaction among the people of Italy.

Harding University students spend semester in Greece
Students at Harding University departed May 8 for a three-month semester studying at the University's campus in Greece. As part of the HUG curriculum, students spend the semester immersed in Greek culture. They have the opportunity to hike Mount Olympus and visit historical sites in the Peloponnese, Northern Greece, Cyprus, Rome and Israel. The group lives in Porto Rafti, Attica, cultivating new relationships with fellow students. Students in the program have a full course load available to them taught by visiting Harding professors. The professors also travel with the students. The classes encourage exploration and interaction among the people of Greece.

More than 1,300 students were included on the Harding University dean's list for grades achieved during the spring 2017 semester. The dean's list is published each semester by Dr. Marty Spears, University provost, honoring those who have achieved high scholarship. To be eligible, a student must be carrying 12 or more hours with a 3.65 or higher grade-point average and no incompletes.

Harding student wins Acxiom Diversity Scholarship
Kylie Stephens of Mount Airy is one of 10 winners of the 2017 Acxiom Diversity Scholarship, a $5,000 scholarship awarded to U.S.-based students from diverse backgrounds who are enrolled in a full-time, post-secondary degree program such as computer science, computer information systems, engineering or other related areas of study.

Students participate in Harding University Spring Sing
Harding University's 44th annual Spring Sing "Curtain Up" was April 13-15. Four hosts and hostesses, 20 ensemble members and seven vocalists performed throughout the musical variety show drawing more than 10,000 audience members to four performances. Spring Sing began as a small-scale campus musical showcase in 1974 and has grown to incorporate nearly 1,000 students performing as part of the ensemble or the eight competing social club shows. The shows are judged for originality, costume, choreography and music. Cash awards and plaques are presented to winners, who donate the prize money to charities of their choice.

Harding student wins national award in psychology
Jasmine Brock of Senatobia was awarded the Mary Waterstreet Prize in Psychology for the best research paper in the field. The award was presented at the Alpha Chi Honor Society national convention in Louisville, Kentucky.

Harding University students experience world religions in Chicago
Ninety students traveled to Chicago on April 6-9 as part of requirements for a world religions class. The trip was designed to enlighten students about people and practices of major living religious traditions. Students visited the Baha'I House of Prayer, the Hindu Temple Balaji, Islamic Foundation mosque, a Sikh Religious Society, Shabbat service at KAM Isaiah Israel Congregations, and Buddhists with Soka Gakkai International.
