Searcy, AR (01/24/2018) — The Cannon-Clary College of Education at Harding University announces new directors Mitch Walton at Harding University - North Little Rock and Dr. Meredith Jones at Harding University - Northwest Arkansas.
"Meredith Jones and Mitch Walton have already proven themselves in their new positions," said Dr. Donny Lee, dean of the College of Education. "They are seasoned educators who are well-respected around the state, and they understand and communicate the mission of the college and the University."
Walton has been a leader in education for 36 years in Arkansas through his roles as principal, superintendent, and director of professional development for the Arkansas Association of Education Administrators. He has served as a board member of the Arkansas Rural Education Association and the Arkansas Association of Curriculum and Instruction Administrators.
Jones has distinguished herself as a leader in education for the past 11 years as an assistant principal and instructional facilitator as well as a teacher of middle-level mathematics and special education. She provided professional learning opportunities to educators in Central Arkansas and has a passion for helping both future and current educators grow.
As directors, both Walton and Jones are responsible for developing and administering all programs at their respective locations. Moreover, they provide a notable Harding presence in the professional and academic community outside of Searcy.
"Selecting new directors for our locations in North Little Rock and Rogers is very important because these individuals represent Harding and its mission in those areas of the state," Lee said. "Harding is reaching more people in more places to do more good. These directors are an important part of that mission, and we are pleased they have hit the ground running."
