On August 20, 2021, 27 students from 12 states and three foreign countries received their white coats to begin their academic training to become doctors of pharmacy. This unique group of individuals comprises the Class of 2024 that will graduate in December 2024. This diverse group will spend countless hours working together as they traverse the terrain of their pharmacy education. Dr. David Burks provided the University welcome and alumna Dr. Journey McCarty, Ambulatory Care Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, gave the keynote address. We express our deepest thanks to the Arkansas Pharmacists Association (APA) for generously sponsoring the ceremony and reception.

Senior psychology major receives Boe Award for second consecutive year
The Great Plains Honors Council named Ashlyn Wilson as the recipient of the Boe Award for her paper titled, "Gender, Images and Evaluation of Abuse Survivors." The GPHC is an organization made up of 130 collegiate honors programs in the six-state region bounded by Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Nebraska and Kansas.

Students awarded funds from the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy
Congratulations to the six students that were awarded funds from a rural loan program established by the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy. The program gives students the opportunity to receive a tuition loan that would not require repayment if they immediately go to work as a pharmacist in a rural Arkansas community following graduation. The students were selected by the Arkansas Rural Loan Scholarship Committee after an application and interview process. The Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy has established similar programs at both UAMS College of Pharmacy and Harding University College of Pharmacy.
