Sierra Struble Places Third With Harding University Academic Team

2013 Feb 19

Aledo resident Sierra Struble, a freshman history major at Harding University, competed with the University's Quiz Bowl Team that placed third Saturday, Feb. 9 at the National Academic Quiz Tournament (NAQT). The tournament was held at Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo.

Struble is one of nine other students that make up Harding's Academic Quiz Team. The team will advance in the Academic Competition Federation sectionals at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo.

A typical Quiz Bowl match covers questions about literature, history, science, math, social sciences, fine arts, geography, religion, mythology and philosophy. Most questions are structured with the most obscure information at the beginning followed by more obvious clues that reveal the answer so that those with more extensive knowledge of the subject have a better chance of answering the question first.

Harding is the largest private university in Arkansas with 6,815 students and attracts more National Merit Scholars than any other private university in the state. Harding also maintains campuses in Australia, Chile, England, France, Greece, Italy and Zambia.
