Sarah Roe of Brentwood chosen for collegiate musical performance group

2015 Oct 28

Sarah Roe of Brentwood was selected to be a member of Belles & Beaux, a musical performance group at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas.

Sponsored by the department of music, Belles & Beaux is a 13-member vocal and instrumental group that performs a wide variety of new and old songs and travels all over the United States. Belles & Beaux accepts bookings for events such as youth conferences and banquets. Most of their repertoire is secular, but they also sing Christian a cappella songs.

Belles & Beaux was founded in 1959 by Dr. Kenneth Davis Jr. the Chorus director of the University at the time. The group was originally designed to be an entertaining show choir that would travel and perform for American military bases overseas. Davis directed the group until 1979 when Dr. Cliff Ganus III took over as director. Assistant Professor of Music Chuck Hicks became director in 1996, and the group shifted to be a pop ensemble.

Harding is the largest private university in Arkansas and has been ranked by U.S. News & World Report for 22 consecutive years as a top 25 school in the South. Harding also maintains study abroad programs in Australia, Chile, England, France, Greece, Italy and Zambia. For more information visit www.harding.edu.
