Nicole Daniel of Cary selected for Harding University jazz band

Nicole Daniel, English major, of Cary has been selected for the 2013-14 jazz band.

The jazz band is directed by Drs. Scott and Cindy Carrell, associate professors of music. The group participates in activities including local and campus performances, trips within the region and performances in the University's Spring Sing production.

The band plays a wide variety of styles, including blues, swing, bop, Latin and Fusion. Improvisation is taught as part of the jazz curriculum. Each student is given the opportunity to improvise in rehearsal and performance and to write arrangements for the jazz band to perform.
