Marshall Harris of Soddy Daisy Spends Fall Semester in Australia

2012 Oct 3

Marshall Harris of Soddy Daisy departed Sept. 6 to spend a three-month semester living and traveling throughout the western Pacific Rim at Harding University in Australia (HUA).

The semester will feature several trips throughout "Australasia" including New Zealand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia and Singapore. The program will conclude in Hong Kong, a new addition to the itenarary. As part of the HUA curriculum, Harris, a junior undeclared major, will spend the semester exploring the local area and participating in field trips throughout the continent including hiking the Outback, snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef, and touring the Sydney Opera House.

Students in the program have a full course load available to them taught by visiting Harding professors who also travel with the students. Typical of all Harding University international programs, the classes encourage exploration and interaction among culture in which the program is based.

Harding is the largest private university in Arkansas with 6,815 students and attracts more National Merit Scholars than any other private university in the state. Harding also maintains campuses in Chile, England, France, Greece, Italy and Zambia. For more information visit www.harding.edu.
